Practice Makes Perfect
February 17, 2016

So this is a painting I've been working on for well over 5 years.
I have literally re-covered and changed every inch of it multiple times.
There really isn't any underlying idea to this painting whatsoever.
I rarely work on it, and when I do it is only when inspiration strikes. Obviously you can tell the upper right hand area was the last part worked on, and that was months and months ago.
I don't work on it to finish it. That has NEVER been the goal. The goal has just been to work on the basics. Work on my shading, on my layering, on my glazing. I just want to practice on nonsense and let my subconscience release whatver creative juices it has. It started as a two dimensional shift from pink to blue. Over the years it has slowly evolved into something new and different. A few years from now it could transform into something entirely new.
The point wasn't to finish. It was to practice. To always work on and re-work this painting until it was perfect.
It's not even close to finished....but that's not the point. The point is that after years and years and re-work after re-work......I can finally see the final image.
I couldn't see it before. But now the end of the tunnel is finally in sight.
But then again.....it can always change.
